1-3 Beyond Drilling
 
$45 for 1 workshop

From the Start: how music inspires movement
 
Dance creation and performance is often inspired and motivated by the music we move to.
 
In this workshop, we’ll take an in depth look at several pieces music to reveal their inner workings as we broaden our knowledge of, and connection to, the music.
 
Discussion and examples of how these sounds and elements can affect and shape our movement choices will follow as we work on creating short dance phrases.
 
Please note: there will be the option of some movement in this workshop, but it is primarily lecture style.
Open to all levels and styles – no previous musical training is required, seriously.
 
Beyond Drilling: bringing life to technique
 
In the life of any dancer, the desire to develop and refine technique is a constant quest, but dance is so much more than technique!
 
We’ll explore energy, work with weight and play with time as we connect with our bodies, and consider the missing link between drilling and successful performance.
 
Inspired by this summer’s sold out Take It Back Intensive, this workshop is part experiment and part investigation, and will provide dancers with new ideas and approaches to both the creative process and performance.
 
Open to all levels and styles

We are open tonight for drop in, bellydance basics at 7PM.  Week 3 of Turkish Bellydance Choreography is on at 8:05PM.

Saturday we are closed for Hamilton International Bellydance Competition & Gala Show at The Casbah.  Sunday we have workshops with Henna!

 

 

 

Next Dance Session

Drop in classes are always on-going.  If you’d like to learn a choreography the next session starts 8/21.  These classes are faster & have fewer explanations than our Basics offerings.  They’re not recommended for those new to dance or bellydance. We operate on the same schedule as the moon so there is a new session every 4-5 weeks. We refresh our intention & vision at the same time as the moon starts a new cycle.  Aligning in this manner is one way to connect with nature.  Eshe was inspired to follow this schedule by her teacher Mishaal in Tokyo many years ago.  ^_^ hamiltonbellydance.com

Mommy & Me Bellydance Classes in Hamilton

We are in week 3 of the current Mommy & Me session. The next Mommy & Me session starts Sat Sept 16th 10AM-10:30! Any care-giver & child are welcome. Ages 4 & up. (Kids 12 & up are welcome to join our regular classes. We offer 50% off for full-time students.)

Mommy & Me Rates:

Drop in (1 child & 1 adult) $8.85 + tax = $10

4 classes (1 child & 1 adult) $26.55 + tax = $30

Drop in (2 children & 1 adult) $13.27 + tax = $15

4 classes (2 children & 1 adult) $39.82 + tax = $45

We’re located at 1 West Ave S, Suite 300, Hamilton, Ontario. We have free parking at our building. We recommend joining the session in week 1 or 2. Interested students have the option of performing. Next Mommy & Me session will start Sat Nov 25th.
