Drop in Bellydance in Hamilton at Mahasti – New Classes!

You’re welcome to drop into these classes any time.  No reservation necessary.  All levels & styles are welcome.  No experience required.  We have some students who take Basics & have been dancing 15+ years.  Explore rhythm, props, drills, combinations, folklore, fusion, Egyptian raqs sharqi, Turkish oryantal and more in this exploration of the foundation of dance.  A challenging and fun class no matter your dance history.

Mon 7PM PWYC Basics (This class & Sat 10:45AM has a pay what you can option for those of you who can’t afford a regular class card or if you want to try a class before committing.)

Tues 10AM Feel Good Bellydance ($5 cash drop in fee.  This class is discounted as my children attend it. You can also use your class card or Groupon)

Wed 6:05PM Basics with Angela

Thurs 10AM Feel Good Bellydance ($5 cash drop in fee.  This class is discounted as my children attend it. You can also use your class card or Groupon)

Thurs 7PM Basics with Faith

Sat 10:45AM PWYC Basics (This class & Sat 10:45AM has a pay what you can option for those of you who can’t afford a regular class card or if you want to try a class before committing.)

We also have an intermediate drop in class.  Wed 7:10PM Creative Combos with Angela (6 months experience recommended for this drop in class. This class is running in our 9/9 session only. In October it will switch to drills.)

If you are new to the studio or new to dance feel free to drop in to Basics, Beginner Skills or Feel Good classes.  With 6+ months of experience you can also drop into Creative Combos on Wednesday nights in September.

New Mommy & Me Session starts Sept 29th (ages 4+).  Kids can dance with any caregiver.

Toddlers & up can drop into Lil Movers.  $5 cash drop in fee.

If you’re on a budget try our Feel Good ($5 cash drop in fee) Tues or Thurs mornings or our pay what you can offerings Mon 7PM or Sat 10:45AM.

If you’re new to the studio you can also try 4 ($39 + tax) or 8 ($55 + tax) classes on Groupon.

We’re located on at 422 Concession (on the Hamilton mountain) near East 17th.

Freestyle Flow: Secrets to Improv with Alyssa Nedich

Join us Saturday May 12th as this award-winning artist shares exploratory and expansive drills. Learn what it means to dance in the moment or use the exercises to push through creative blocks or past established habits. Test out different tempos, levels, textures, ranges of emotion from brooding to playful as soloists, partners and a group.

BIO
Daring to follow her artistic dreams, Alyssa has been working as a choreographer, director and dance instructor for eight years. Always willing to try something new, Alyssa has developed a versatile portfolio with experience in competitions, classrooms, theatres and on movie sets. She can be seen on stages and screens across Canada, as well as sitting on the other side creating, curating and developing new work.

Alyssa’s creativity is ever reaching, crafting competitive and performance pieces for soloists and groups as well as investing in her community. Alyssa believes in helping youth grow confidence through dance. She has been asked by numerous elementary schools, high schools and community centers to run workshops and camps.

Alyssa’s approachable and bubbly personality has allowed her to extend her expertise to include offering private lessons, workshops and specialty choreography for weddings and events.

From 3/26 we are moving to the mountain.  Our new address will be 422 Concession Street, Hamilton.

To celebrate with everyone at the Bunny Hop & Seek we’ll be offering a free bellydance class Sat 3/31 10:45-11:45AM.  No experience necessary.  This will be a great class for beginners to come to with options given to experienced dancers to turn up the volume!

From the Concession BIA:

“Saturday March 31st, 2018 between 10am – 3pm.

​”We invite families to come out with the kids for a chocolate Easter Egg Collection from our business storefronts (between Upper Wentworth and Poplar Street). The FIRST 100 children will receive FREE bunny ears!

“Stop by the BIA office at 534 Concession to pick yours up while they last! Then continue along Concession and visit our fabulous stores for more chocolate treats!

“We will also be hosting a HOP & SEEK game! Find the cute stuffed bunny (hidden within some of our storefronts), snap a pic and post on social media using the hashtag #UptownBunnyHop for a chance to win a gift basket (valued at $100)
donated by businesses along the street!

“Draws will take place on Monday April 9th when all the winners will be announced through social media.

KIDS BELLYDANCE (Caregiver & Me) Saturdays 10-10:30AM

1 CLASS – 1 Adult & 1 Child $10 (including taxes)

1 CLASS – 1 Adult & 2 Siblings $15 (including taxes)

4 CLASSES – 1 Adult & 1 Child $30 (including taxes)

4 CLASSES – 1 Adult & 2 Siblings $45 (including taxes)

Open to any caregiver & child.  Recommended for ages 4 & up. Optional performance opportunities.  Dancers 11 & up (students attending school full-time) are welcome to attend our regular classes with a 50% discount.

You have raised $4351 for local Hamilton & Canadian charities since we opened in April 2016.  Thank you so much for your generosity!

Sunday Jan 28th Eshe is hosting a Pa-Glam-A Dance Party.  Come in your PJs (or whatever you like!) and learn a glam bellydance! We are raising money for SACHA (Sexual Assault Centre Hamilton).  No donation is too small.  100% of funds donated go to SACHA.  Current students may use 1 class on their class card if they prefer.

Beginners are welcome.  We will learn (or polish for experienced dancers) step touches, shimmies, hip drops & lifts as well as work on adding lots of flair & attitude.

We are at 1 West Ave S, Suite 300, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  Free parking at our building.  Check out our “Location” page for pics of the building as well as maps & FAQs.
