“Dabke is a line and formation dance found in the Eastern Arabic countries known as the Levant. The countries involved are Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine and Iraq. The dance is a proud, communal dance done at most occasions and gatherings.

“The movements consist of walking, leaping, fast footwork, kicks and stomps of feet and heels. The before mentioned movements are all done in unison.”

WHAT WILL WE YOU BE LEARNING?
We’ll be teaching you the basics and foundational structure of dabke. Specifically, the lebanese mejwez style of dabke!

HOW LONG IS IT?
The workshop will run for approximately 1.5 hours.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?
We will be doing a lot of leg work, partner excercises, and most importantly, LEARNING!
